You may find that there’s a special offer on equipment from your local hire shop, but be aware that such machinery is usually not well maintained and will not give the best results. Our dust-limiting equipment is truly cutting-edge, however, and maintained to excellent standards. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO DO?

A normal home or office floor of about 10ft by 12ft will on average take two days for it to be professionally sanded down and varnished. If a water-based varnish is being used for the finish you can then add an extra day for it to completely cure and be ready for the furniture to be moved back in. Bear in mind, however, that should the floor be in a particularly bad state then it may take longer than normal to fix it, but all this will be explained to you before the work starts. A regular floor in average condition will take about two days to complete the whole job.

WHY SHOULD I BOTHER HAVING GAPS FILLED IN WHEN THE FLOOR IS QUITE SOLID ANYWAY?

Filling in gaps between floorboards is a necessary part of the repair preliminaries, to make the floor airproof. Gaps are not only responsible for annoying creaks and groans when you walk over the floor, but can also cost you hard cash in your energy bills. Also, in areas such as the kitchen, where spillage is likely, the floor should be completely sealed anyway. We use professional fillers that will practically weld with the existing or replacement floorboards and form an excellent seal prior to sanding and finishing.

WILL THERE BE A LOT OF DUST AND OTHER MESS?

We use equipment that has been designed not only to provide an excellent finish for your Crawley RH11 wooden floors, but also to severely limit the amount of sand dust that is generated during the process. Our Crawley floor sanding and finishing teams will also thoroughly clean up after they’ve finished their work, so dust and other mess is simply not an issue.

WILL YOUR FINISHES BE BAD FOR MY ALLERGIES

If you’re sensitive to one or more chemical products you don’t need to worry. All of our varnishes, waxes, stains and other finishes are eco-friendly and contain no toxins or chemicals that will irritate you or cause adverse reactions.

If you suffer from asthma and other conditions you’ll also be a lot better off by having a wooden floor rather than fitted carpets, Carpets and rugs are the breeding grounds for dust mites, which exacerbate such conditions. Throw a rug over the bare boards and you can easily wash and dry it regularly to kill the critters!
